Updated 20th November 2005....

During the last 10 days of Ramadhan and the first week of November, the Anjuman members became aware of more and more families that have taken refuge at scattered places in the Rawalpindi, Islamabad area. People staying with relatives and some refugee groups had rented accommodation by pooling in their limited belongings to fight out the cold weather.

Teams were formulated and sent out to gather the requirements of each group/family over the twin-cities area that was reported to us. During these days the Anjuman answered out to these refugees providing them bedding, food, clothes and other necessities.

A large group of refugees were reported to be homeless and for them, a relief camp was established at "Jhangi Syedan", a small colony just on the border of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Approximately 175 individuals were housed in this colony and their basic necessities were catered by Anjuman Janisarane Ahel-e-Bait with kind help of brothers from I.S.O for about 10 days. Most of these families are now settled at government administered Camp villages were they are getting federal aid and support.

During the last 30 days (20th October to 20th November, 2005) the Anjuman was able to distribute the following goods from different platforms (amounts listed bellow).

bullet5000 Sweaters
bullet2100 Jackets
bullet3800 Heavy Quilts
bullet4100 cotton filled mattresses
bullet190 Tents
bullet3000 kilo flour (bags of approx 1 kilo each)
bullet3200 kilo rice (bags of approx 1 kilo each)
bullet8000 food packets (Ghee, Sugar, Tea, Lentils, Salt, Pepper, Spices)
bullet12000 units of kitchenware
bullet1500 Bed Sheets given to different hospitals
bullet500 Prayer sheets
bullet350 Turpentine Oil Stoves
bullet150 Gas Stoves
bullet500 units of vaccination distributed to different hospitals
bulletVaccination is also been given by the Anjuman from G-9 refugee camp
bulletThe count for Mineral Water Bottles and Warms clothes distributed by the Anjuman could not be gathered. Warm clothes were donated to us in a huge amount of bundles that were sorted and a major portion was distributed. These 2 items have been handed out in tremendous numbers. (Old and Unusable clothes have been sorted out and are recycled to make mattresses; this a project that we have just took up, hopefully we'll be able to provide more updates on this soon)

Along with the distribution of the aforementioned items, the efforts relating the dispatch of relief goods has not been stopped. In the last 2 weeks, 6 trucks of relief good have been sent to the Northern Areas, with 2 trucks sent to Muzaffarabad, 1 Truck sent to Chakoti, 1 to Chakkar and just yesterday, a truck full of relief good was sent out to Shahbagh (a very hard to reach town that got limited attention by relief teams so far).

As the Eid festivities approached, Janisar's Children Wing with the help of Janisar Ladies Wing, designed generous Eid gift packs for the families settled at different relief camps over the city. The whole Anjuman participated in going to hospitals and refugee camps for distributing these good well ahead of Eid to show our support and concern towards the effected. New clothes, quilts, toys for kids etc were nicely packed and distributed during this activity.

Just today, Masoomeen Center had the pleasure to host Dr. Shabbir Haider who presented Anjuman Janisaran Ahel-e-Bait a bank draft worth 8.736.00 usd on behalf of Imam Hasan Centre, Sydney, Australia (http://www.imamhasancentre.com/). This amount is to be used specifically for the acquisition of an Ambulance that is to be used in different relief projects by Masoomeen Center (Bemar-e-Karbala, Free Medical Center) and Anjuman Janisarane Ahel-e-Bait. We are deeply touched by this generous donation from Imam Hasan Center and through them, we send out our deepest gratitude towards our brothers and sisters belonging to Sydney, Australia.  (For more details click here)

It is believed that the first and initial phase of immediate relief efforts is finally reaching to its conclusion now, long term projects are now to be taken up by the organization for helping out those who have lost their belongings and are now ready to rebuild their lost towns. One of the important on going activities that kicked off right after Eid (the first week of November) has been the formulation of a solid plan for the next phase of activities. Click here for further details on these plans.

Special thanks to those who have donated..
